The AimHigher initiative aims to widen and increase participation in higher education.

The Southend partnership now consists of all Southend schools and other partners. It has developed from the old 'Excellence Challenge' Partnership that started in 2000. The SCOLLAR Trust acts as banker and the Chief Executive Officer of the Trust is the Chair of the Partnership.

The Partnership has coherant links with the 14-19 Planning Group and the very successful and vibrant Gifted and Talented network that exists in Southend.

AimHigher has several successful projects, that include:

- Roadshow for students to encourage Higher education read more
- An enrichment preogramme for year 12 students read more
- Visits to Universities read more
- Summer Schools read more
- Support for students with applications read more
