Q How many pupils achieved the Level 1 BTEC Certificate by the end of that first year?
We are pleased to say that 25 pupils achieved their Level 1 by the end of the first year.
Q What is available to Pupils Post 16?
The first cohort complete in June 2007 and are currently taking part in career advice sessions with Eileen Gallagher, our Recruitment Manager. They are offered the opportunity to progress on to the apprenticeship programme which can lead to working for a construction company whilst completing their studies at Prospects one day a week.
Q How is the project monitored?
Weekly communication is maintained between myself and the school co-ordinator, with regards to attendance, performance, progression and any issues that may arise. We also hold regular open evenings for parents to attend, and pupils are recognised at the annual Prospects awards evening.
Case Study
For one pupil the project created a positive 'turn around'. He was below the entry requirement and finding it difficult to cope at school, but determined to make the best of the opportunity.
He persevered with tasks he found difficult and achieved well above his expected potential - 100% attendance and 100% time keeping. His tutors said he was a 'natural' and had developed a very mature approach to his studies - it was a personal journey to complete the programme and gain a place as a apprentice. |
