A review of Summer Internships by Helen Davis
Through funding from the AimHigher initiative, sixth form students are given the opportunity to participate in a focused work placement to enhance their course of study. Extensive research is conducted to find appropriate and supportive employers that are willing to offer relevant and meaningful experience and expertise.

Project co-ordinator, Sue Geeson matches students to placements and organises interviews with the employer.

- Placements are for three weeks
- Students receive a wage
- Travel costs are reimbursed
- Mentoring visit conducted by the project co-ordinator
- Clear aims and objectives are agreed
- Follow up sessions conducted
