Interview with Sue Geeson, Project Co-ordinator
Q When did the programme start?
Funded by EEDA (The East of England Development Agency) the Pathways project was set up by the Education Action Zone in 2001, as an alternative education programme for pupils aged 14 - 16 and although sadly the funding finished this year, schools will continue to fund students who benefit from this type of programme.
Q What were the aims of the project?
The aim was to offer programmes to students for whom a totally academic route would not be suitable, enabling them to realise their potential following a vocational course with a local training provider. Normally 2/3 days in school following curriculum subjects, plus a place with a recognised training provider to study a vocational course. Some students secured a work placement with a local employer.
